Check-in is 3 p.m. or later, and check-out is by 11 a.m.
Fairbanks House welcomes young adults 16+ in the same room with their parents, as long as the room can accommodate them. Rollaways and/or air mattresses are not provided or permitted. We have three rooms that can accommodate more than two: The Guest Room, the Servants Quarters Cottage, and The Grand Tower Suite. No one under the age of 16 is permitted.
If you need to modify or cancel a reservation, please do so at least 14 days prior to your arrival to have your deposit refunded, less a $50.00 processing fee. Cancellations made within 14 days of arrival will result in the deposit, less the $50.00 processing fee held for use in a future reservation.
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Getaways, Holiday and Special event periods will have higher processing fee of $100.00 and requires at least 30 days prior to arrival. Please ask if you have any questions about this before booking your stay.
Failure to check-in or cancel a reservation will result in the entire reservation being charged
Fairbanks House is an 1885 mansion that is in its original form. There are no elevators. There are 9 steps to get to the front door, 21 more to get to the guest rooms on the second floor, and an additional 18 to get from there to the Tower Suite. Please bear this in mind when packing. Sometimes two bags are better than one…
We are not pet-friendly.
For the safety and comfort of our guests, we ask that you meet friends and acquaintances away from the inn. We’ll be happy to suggest gathering places such as restaurants, pubs, coffee houses, beaches, parks or galleries. Local ordinances do not permit us to welcome your guests for breakfast or Social Hour, even for a fee.
The inn is located in the Historic District of the island where all of the shops, restaurants, galleries, tours, and attractions are located. Our guests walk to most things that they see, do, and eat while here. The closest restaurant is a two-minute walk, and the farthest restaurant is a ten-minute walk. Everything else is in-between. If you bring a car, we have our own off-street parking lot offered at no charge to our guests.
The beach is a mile and three-quarters from the inn, and all thirteen miles of beach are open to the public, with lots of free parking. We offer complimentary bikes, backpacks and pool towels for our guests to take to the beach for the relatively short ride over. If you wish to drive, you can toss our complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas and coolers in your trunk and head over that way. Please note that no glass or alcohol are permitted on the beach. There are beach-side bars that can handle that for you. If you wish to take soft drinks, sandwiches or water, ask us for a cooler and some ice packs.
Hours of Operation
Fairbanks House hours for daily operation, including holidays, the Innkeepers arrive at 7AM to help with the delicious breakfast at 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. Office hours are from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and after the Innkeepers host a social hour from 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM. Our staff is on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week including on the holidays.
