The Grand Tower Suite

1 King Bed | 1 Queen Bed |1 Full Bed | Kitchen | Sectional

This two-and-a-half bedroom suite comprises the entire third and fourth floors of the mansion. The third floor is comprised of a large living room with a very comfortable sectional sofa, a full kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom, plus a full bed in a cozy sleeping nook. The Tower Suite was originally the attic and third-floor playroom for the Fairbanks’ grandchildren so it’s loaded with all kinds of character: angled ceilings, saloon-style doors, lots of cubby holes, and eyebrow windows.

The Magnolia Suite

King bed | Electric Fireplace | Kitchenette

This restful room was originally a bedroom for one of the Fairbanks daughters and an eventual nursery for the occasions when grandchildren were present. Prized as much for its tall windows as its fridge and microwave, the kitchenette/ sunroom offers a nice quiet space to relax with morning coffee as the colors of sunrise spread across the island. The large airy bedroom is showcased by another set of bright windows forming a box bay window sitting area.

The Provincial Suite

King bed | Fireplace | Kitchen | Private Porch

The original design of Fairbanks House saw this room as small quarters for the nanny plus an area on the second floor for the children to play surrounded by porches. The porches were enclosed allowing for the addition of a romantically sunken bedroom and a kitchen area with lots of windows.

The Country French Room

King bed | Stone Fireplace | Sitting Area

This second floor room is decorated in soft blues and yellows. An Eastlake settee accents the country French style of the room that features a king four-poster bed and another of the mansions signature carved soapstone fireplaces.

The Captain’s Room

Four-poster king bed | Cedar closet

This room was Mrs. Fairbanks’s bedroom as it has a striking cedar closet. Originally, there was a passageway between this room and Major Fairbanks’ bedroom next door. Today, there is no such connection. The original carved soapstone fireplace remains and, instead of burning coal as would have been the case in the 1800s, candles will be the fuel of choice in the current century.

The Tapestry Room

Four-poster king bed | Decorative fireplace | Sitting area

This large bright corner room was originally used as Major Fairbanks’ office attached to his bedroom, and it features beautiful (original) hardwood floors, a two-person Jacuzzi, and an electric fireplace. The bedroom offers a king four-poster bed as well as a carved soapstone decorative fireplace and two comfortably large upholstered rolled-arm chairs situated in front of a 32-inch flat panel television.

The Guest Room

Queen Bed | Twin Bed | Stone Fireplace

This room was the Fairbank’s guest bedroom on the first floor. This room now comfortably houses two beds – a queen and a twin – making it a perfect choice for an economical three-person room or for those wishing to share a room, but not a bed. The corner-carved soapstone decorative fireplace adds to the charm.

The Library

Queen Bed | Stone Fireplace

Set off of the foyer, this room was the original library in the mansion. Carnegies, Rockefellers, senators, and congressmen all met within these walls. The room is now a gracious, small guest room as quiet as it was in its days as a library, despite its convenient location at the front of the house.

The Hideaway

King Bed | Double Jacuzzi Tub | Private Entrance

This romantic room is carved out of a converted attic, the nooks, crannies, and skylights will take you back to the days of having your own clubhouse in the attic of your friend’s house when you were a kid. The Victorian-decorated room is on the private second floor with a private entrance and driveway and shared first-floor front porch.

The Servants Quarters Cottage

Queen Bed | 2 Twin Beds | Private Entrance

Although this large cottage was originally used as the servants’ quarters, you’ll feel nothing but pampered staying in it today. A comfortable living room, big screen TV and DVD player, as well as a full kitchen and a private driveway for convenience.

The Schoolhouse Cottage

King Bed | Living Room & Kitchenette | Fireplace

We believe that this building was the original one-room schoolhouse on the island. This sweet romantic private cottage  is a single bedroom with a king iron bed, a small kitchenette, and a walk-in closet. There is a three-night minimum stay requirement for this cottage.

The Kitchen Suite

King bed | Private Entrance | Private Porch

As in most large mansions of the 1800’s, our Kitchen Suite, is attached to the back of the house. The large cook’s fireplace can be set to operate without heat for added ambiance in the warmer months. The suite includes a private porch, private entrance, small refrigerator, and two-person Jacuzzi bathtub.
