Set off of the foyer, Room #1 was the original library in the mansion. Barons of politics and industry met here to discuss the day’s events before influencing the local, state and national discourse on any number of topics. Carnegies, Rockefellers, senators, and congressmen all met within these walls. The room is now a gracious, small guest room as quiet as it was in its days as a library, despite its convenient location at the front of the house. The closet still contains some of the orangewood cabinetry constructed from wood harvested from the family’s orange groves on Fairbanks Avenue in Orlando.
