Amelia Island Trail
We have to start with the most popular trail: the Amelia Island Trail. It’s 12-mile out and back trail is well-maintained, shady and winds through residential areas. Start your walk by Peters Point Beachfront Park and head south toward Amelia Island State Park. Walk underneath the live oaks, offering a welcome relief from the warm sun. As you make your way toward the water, you might see an osprey flying to catch its next meal, local tortoises, and much greenery. Get your steps in as you admire the view.

Egan’s Creek Greenway
As the name says, Egan’s Creek Greenway is full of green. Many love to hike on this 4.8-mile out and back trail on Amelia Island because it connects you to nature. There are rugged trails covered in grass taking you through the wetlands. Along your walk you can see lots of wildlife, including herons fishing for prey, turtles sunning themselves, and even some gators. The Greenway trail is right at the center of Amelia Island, with residential areas on one side and the beach on the other. But something about it feels private and secluded, like a secret garden that’s all your own.
Fort Clinch Hiking Trail
Take a hike with a side of history at the Fort Clinch Hiking Trail. Hiking this 5.6-mile loop trail on Amelia Island puts you close to the coast. The sea breezes can keep you cool and comfortable as you hike. The trail is diverse, not completely flat, with hills and curves along the way. What makes the Fort Clinch Hiking trail so great is that the scenery is constantly changing before your eyes. Most hikers are surprised at the number of hills on a trail in Florida! Dune Ridge Trail at Little Talbot Island
Come over to the north end of the island for this relaxing trail that’s enough to break a sweat yet 100% enjoyable. The natural elements of the Dune Ridge Trail on Amelia Island are abundant. It’s a regular feast for your eyes, from the sunlight filtering through the palmetto and bay trees, to the scent of fresh ocean air, wildflowers in bloom, and lofty dunes. The trail will take you by the coast, where you can look out for wildlife like ghost crabs, gopher tortoises, pelicans and dolphins.
